Blaine's Old-Fashioned 4th of July: A Celebration with Exciting New Twists
Blaine, WA – The highly anticipated Blaine’s Old-Fashioned 4th of July is just around the corner, and this year’s festivities promise to be bigger and better with exciting new changes to the event layout. For the first time since Carroll Solomon began organizing the event in 2001, significant alterations have been made to accommodate the growing number of attendees and participants.
The 4th of July celebration in Blaine has grown tremendously over the years, now attracting approximately 17,000 attendees. Last year’s event featured 250 cars in the car show, 88 food and street fair vendors, and over 75 parade participants. This year, the number of vendors has surged to 135, reflecting the event’s increasing popularity and the community’s enthusiastic participation.
To better utilize Blaine’s limited downtown area, the parade route has been changed. The parade will now start at Boblett Street and head north, to end at F Street, and exit on D Street. This crucial change opens up numerous city blocks for vendors and the car show, maximizing the use of space that was previously underutilized. Despite the new parade route, the event will still take place on the same streets with the usual closures, with only one exception of 3rd street’s closure for parade line-up.
A thrilling addition to this year’s celebration is the introduction of a beer garden, open from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM at G Street Plaza. The beer garden is family-friendly and will feature three live bands and a DJ, ensuring non-stop entertainment until the fireworks begin. Families can also enjoy a variety of children’s activities at the plaza, including giant Jenga, Connect 4, face painting, and chalk art. To promote safety on this high-alcohol consumption holiday, there will be a four-drink maximum in the beer garden. All proceeds from the beer garden go to the Chamber of Commerce to create more events like this for our community!
The grand finale of the day will be the spectacular fireworks show over Drayton Harbor, starting at approximately 10:00 PM. The display can be viewed from both H Street Plaza and G Street Plaza, with additional lawn space available at Marine Park for a perfect viewing experience.
Additionally, we are in need of over 60 volunteers throughout the day. If you’d like to volunteer for a shift, please sign up HERE or email Director@blainechamber.com for more information. Your help is crucial to making this event a success!
